Syria’s Coastal Region witnessed a massive bushfires back in October 2020, burning about 10,000 Hectors land planted with fruitful trees, mainly 25-year-old olives trees, only in Lattakia governorate. This has caused the loss of livelihoods and assets for more than 28 000 families (168 000 individuals). FAO Syria’s Representative, Mike Robson, gave a statement to describe the situation after meeting the affected vulnerable families in Lattakia and Tartous governorates.
