In South Sudan, FAO and UNESCO, with support from the European Union, are providing literacy and numeracy lessons for nomadic pastoralists living in cattle camps. They provide basic education and help build resilient pastoral livelihoods.
They are eating more nutritious food as a result of the diversification of livelihoods and increased incomes.
Youth participating in the programme are also less likely to be engaged in conflict. Through education, we are ensuring peace and food security for South Sudan’s pastoral communities.
