Saving livelihoods and building farmers’ resilience in Nigeria

As some parts of northeast Nigeria start recording relative stability, more farmers are returning to their villages.

With support from donors, FAO is working with the government to restore farmers’ livelihoods and strengthen their resilience.

During the 2020 cultivation season, FAO supported 63 300 households including displaced people, returnees and host communities with crop seeds and fertilizers, enabling them to produce food and generate income. Hajja Goroma can now feed her family and support her children’s education with the income she makes from the sales of surplus harvest from her vegetable garden.

Alhaji Modu is rebuilding his livelihood with the income he is generating from his harvest. Together, we are saving livelihoods and building farmers’ resilience.
