Rome, Italy
Rome/Hangzhou, 30 April 2025 – The Global AgriInno Challenge 2025 is now open for applications! Organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Zhejiang University (ZJU), this flagship innovation competition empowers young agripreneurs to scale sustainable digital solutions that advance climate resilience, supply chain efficiency, and nutritional security.
This year’s theme — Harnessing Emerging Technologies and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for Sustainable Agrifood Systems — aligns with the UN Global Digital Compact and FAO’s Science and Innovation Strategy. The Challenge calls on startups and innovators to leverage open-source platforms, AI, blockchain, and interoperable Digital Public Goods (DPGs) to bridge digital, gender, and rural divides.
Selected teams will be invited to Innovation for Good and a final Pitch Event in Hangzhou, China (27–29 August 2025), receiving technical support, coaching, and exposure to international investors and high-level decision-makers, with fees covered. Winning teams will showcase their solutions at the FAO Science and Innovation Forum 2025 in Rome, with seed funding and access to a global innovation network.
