Recognition of good practices and innovations in sustainable livestock transformation, One Health, animal health and Reference Centres
17.10.2025
FAO leads international efforts to achieve food security and transform agrifood systems to be more efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable for better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, leaving no one behind. Since its establishment in 1945, FAO has continued in technical leadership to achieve food security. In 2025, FAO marks its 80th anniversary and celebrates with its 195 members worldwide.
Livestock systems worldwide play a crucial role in converting natural resources into nutritious animal-source foods, bolstering food security, and supporting millions of livelihoods. Recognizing the need for continuous transformation and innovation, FAO continues to promote the exchange of information, dissemination of good practices, and technical cooperation for sustainable livestock production and transformation.
As part of the 80-anniversary celebration, FAO has introduced a recognition to highlight best practices and outstanding innovations that drive sustainable livestock transformation with a One Health perspective. By acknowledging pioneering efforts from stakeholders across the livestock sector, this recognition showcases impactful solutions across value chains and inspires future actions toward integrated, sustainable, and health-oriented livestock systems.
408 applications from 72 FAO Member Nations have been submitted for the recognition, with each independently evaluated by 20 international jury members. Fifty applications demonstrating outstanding performance and impact were selected as recipients, who were invited to attend the Global Technical Recognition Ceremony on World Food Day, 15 October 2025.
