pandemicfund

The project aims to enhance Burkina Faso’s capacity to manage public health emergencies using a One Health approach, with the goal of meeting International Health Regulations (IHR) 2005 standards by 2026.

Implementation and key components

The project will be led by the One Health Technical Secretariat under the Ministry of Health, working closely with other government ministries and stakeholders.

Surveillance and monitoring
The project will improve surveillance across human, animal, and environmental health, address antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and strengthen emergency preparedness, particularly in security-challenged areas.

Laboratory systems
This component will upgrade laboratory infrastructure, enhance testing capabilities, and improve the transport and handling of health samples, with a focus on biosafety and biosecurity.

Multisectoral workforce
The project will provide targeted training to professionals across health sectors, emphasizing the One Health approach and strengthening community-based surveillance.
