A skilled and competent workforce is needed for effective pandemic prevention, preparedness (PPR), and overall health security, addressing not only human health but also the health of animals and the environment.
A well-trained health workforce is essential for tackling today’s complex health challenges. Programmes, training, and platforms in all sectors and at all levels are supporting the development of skilled professionals who can effectively collaborate to prevent and respond to endemic and emerging diseases with zoonotic potential.
The objectives of this webinar are to:
- Share successful strategies and interventions to strengthen the skills and capacities of the workforce in all health sectors.
- Demonstrate how a One Health approach (linking human, animal, and environment) enhances workforce development for PPR.
- Emphasize the importance of a robust, sustainable, and enhanced workforce for PPR.
Key topics
- The critical role of the workforce in pandemic preparedness and response.
- Strategic planning, training development, and delivery.
- Country experiences with One Health workforce development based on critical core competencies.
- Challenges in sustainability and opportunities for career development, retention, and incentives.
The series was launched by FAO, UNICEF, WHO and partners to facilitate learning among countries, regions, institutions, and key stakeholders to engage, collaborate, and share best and emerging practices on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response.
