Webinar: ICT-enabled intersectoral collaboration to tackle highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in Latin America and the Caribbean Region

06/08/2025

6 August 2025 | 10:00–11:15 EST | 16:00–17:15 CEST | Online

Join the FAO-led Community of Practice on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) as we explore how digital technologies can strengthen intersectoral collaboration to combat highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) across Latin America and the Caribbean.

The ICT Community of Practice brings together diverse professionals committed to strengthening intersectoral collaboration through effective data flow, innovation, and peer-to-peer learning. Since the end of 2022, Latin America and the Caribbean region has been affected by HPAI outbreaks, including in poultry, wild birds and mammals, and domestic species. All that underscore the critical need for integrated, real-time and cross sectoral data sharing within the One Health sectors. This learning dialogue will focus on how ICT can bridge data gaps and enhance coordinated One Health responses in the region and its countries.

Participants will gain insights into:

  • Data integration and coordinated analysis: Types of surveillance data needed across animal, human, and environmental sectors for effective HPAI monitoring. How sectors can jointly interpret shared HPAI data to inform unified and effective response strategies and action plans.
  • Standardization: The critical role of harmonized data standards in achieving interoperability and timely cross-sectoral information sharing.
  • Country case studies: Real-world examples of how different nation´s structure and utilize their HPAI information systems.
  • Regional collaboration: Current practices, gaps, and opportunities for improved data standardization and sharing at the regional level.

The webinar will be in Spanish with English interpretation.
