In Colombia, increasingly frequent weather extremes – mainly linked to El Niño and La Niña phenomena – together with escalating conflict and economic difficulties, are driving acute food insecurity, which now stands among the highest levels in the region, particularly for displaced people. The country continues to face one of the world’s largest and longest internal displacement crises, rooted in conflict and insecurity. Despite the 2016 peace agreement, violence perpetrated by non-state armed groups persists, especially in rural areas where it continues to force displacement, disproportionately affecting Indigenous and Afro-descendent communities, disrupt agricultural activities, and restrict access to markets and supply chains. Timely agricultural assistance is a durable solution, enabling both migrant and host communities to rapidly resume production and restore their food security.
