The Common Oceans Deep-sea Fisheries Project is convening a workshop to engage a broad spectrum of stakeholders with an interest in deepwater sharks. The aim of the workshop will be to identify ways to improve catch reporting of deepwater sharks in both the quantity and resolution of the data, review the use of the FAO 3-alpha codes used for that catch reporting. It will also discuss the potential of developing global ecological risk assessments for key species and novel data gathering approaches in collaboration with the fishing industry.
