The XVI Session of the Commission on Livestock Development for Latin America and the Caribbean (CLDLAC) will be held online, from 11 to 13 August 2023, and hosted by the Government of Ecuador. The opening ceremony will take place at 10:00 hours of Quito, on 11 July 2023.
The Commission brings together representatives of Governments and the regional private sector for the exchange of experiences in livestock development policies and programmes and the formulation of cooperation strategies for their strengthening.
The XVI Session of CLDLAC will be held pursuant to the recommendations of the XXXVII FAO Regional Conference for Latin America and the Caribbean and the XV Session of CLDLAC. Member States of the Commission on Livestock Development, representatives of the United Nations and its specialized agencies, experts and observers are among the participants.
During the Commission, delegates from member countries, observers and international experts will discuss issues related to sustainable livestock production, regenerative livestock production, certification mechanisms for sustainable livestock, the role and challenges of small farmers, animal health, native animal genetic resources, among others. The objective of these exchanges is to consolidate capacities, share experiences, and generate recommendations to support the preparation of policy frameworks for the sector and the design and implementation of national and regional livestock development programs in the countries of the Region
