Regional Presentation of the FAO AGRIS Platform: International System for the Collection, Dissemination and Access to Agricultural Science and Technology
Virtual Event, 10/11/2026
Generating and sharing scientific knowledge is essential to solving sustainable development challenges. Open science supports more accessible, inclusive, and collaborative ways to produce, disseminate, and use knowledge. The UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science (2021) promotes knowledge systems that are accessible, inclusive, collaborative and reusable, and encourages the exchange of information and knowledge for the society's benefit. In the agrifood sector, these principles strengthen research, foster collaboration and support evidence-based decision-making, contributing to the transformation of agrifood systems in line with FAOs strategic priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals.
FAO AGRIS coordinates the FAO AGRIS Network, which brings together hundreds of organizations worldwide that contribute knowledge and information to the FAO AGRIS platform. The result is a multilingual bibliographic collection of scientific research on food and agriculture, with a particular focus on scientific information produced in the Global South.
This regional virtual event aims to promote the FAO AGRIS platform as a global information infrastructure that enhances the visibility, accessibility and integration of scientific knowledge. Through the platform, institutions, researchers and decision-makers can find and use scientific evidence to advance the sustainable transformation of agrifood systems.
