Building resilient animal health systems

Innovation, collaboration and action for a sustainable future

Bangkok (Thailand), Hybrid Event, 12/03/2025

Join FAO Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases (ECTAD) at VIV Asia 2025 for two insightful sessions focused on strengthening animal health systems across Asia and the Pacific. These events will highlight cutting-edge veterinary epidemiology solutions and community-driven biosecurity interventions to combat transboundary animal diseases and build resilience in livestock farming.

Session 1: ENTRVST virtual hub launch and scientific webinar
Bridging knowledge across borders: Connecting peers, sharing evidence and building trust | 09.00–10.30 (UTC +7) | Register
to join

FAO will launch ENTRVST, a new peer-to-peer network designed to enhance the veterinary epidemiology workforce in Asia and the Pacific. Join us for an engaging session featuring expert discussions on One Health solutions and the role of epidemiology in tackling critical animal health challenges.

The event aims to:

  • Introduce the ENTRVST virtual hub, a free digital platform for continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Gain expert insights on epidemiology and One Health solutions for tackling animal health challenges.
  • Engage with peers and exchange knowledge on veterinary epidemiology and its real-world applications.

Session 2: Community African swine fever Biosecurity Interventions (CABI) success stories
Empowering communities and smallholder farmers to build resilience against ASF | 11.00–12.00 (UTC +7) | Watch the
livestream on YouTube

African swine fever (ASF) continues to impact smallholder pig farmers across Asia. FAO’s Community ASF Biosecurity Interventions (CABI) programme has been empowering farmers with participatory biosecurity solutions to safeguard their livelihoods and strengthen resilience against disease outbreaks.

The event focuses on:

  • How community-driven biosecurity protects smallholder farmers.
  • Hearing lessons learned from ASF-affected sites in Indonesia and the Philippines.
  • A panel discussion with champion farmers implementing biosecurity solutions.

Supported by the Australian Government (Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade) and the Republic of Korea (Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs), these initiatives drive evidence-based decisions for sustainable livestock transformation.
