Join us for this quarter’s ENTRVST scientific webinar, focusing on wildlife health surveillance and wild meat value chains, two critical components in efforts to prevent future pandemics.

As people, livestock and wildlife habitats grow increasingly interconnected, the risks of disease emergence at the human–livestock–wildlife–environment interface continue to rise. With its immense biodiversity and densely populated ecosystems, the Asia–Pacific region faces particular vulnerability to zoonotic threats.

This webinar will explore how strengthened wildlife health surveillance and improved management of wild meat value chains can minimise zoonotic risks, safeguard biodiversity and supporting the livelihoods of rural and Indigenous communities.

Through a One Health lens, experts will share practical approaches, case studies and lessons learned on safer coexistence between wildlife and people.

Agenda highlights

• Practical approaches to wildlife health surveillance from around the world
Jonathan Sleeman, FAO One Health and Wildlife Health Specialist
Explore the essential components of an effective wildlife health surveillance system, illustrated with real-world case studies and insights into barriers and enablers of successful programmes.

• Sustainable Wildlife Management (SWM) programme in Asia-Pacific, and its efforts in zoonotic risk prevention and management
Manon Mispiratceguy, FAO Regional Coordinator of the SWM Programme
Learn how the programme is advancing safe and sustainable wild meat value chains, including early findings from research on wild meat use across Asia and the Pacific.

• Case study on assessing zoonotic risks along wildlife value chains in Viet Nam
Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga, One Health Team Leader at Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) in Viet Nam
Gain insights from field surveillance along wildlife supply chains in Viet Nam, and what they learned from One Health monitoring at high-risk interfaces.

• Interactive Q&A and panel discussion

Stay connected after the webinar

Continue the conversation after the webinar through the ENTRVST Virtual Hub, a space to stay connected, access resources and exchange knowledge. As a peer network, ENTRVST provides an inclusive and dynamic platform for continuous learning and knowledge sharing, with the aim of strengthening veterinary epidemiology capacity across Asia and the Pacific.
