Background
The annual IPPC regional workshop for the Near East and North Africa (NENA) region will be held from 5-8 August 2024 in Rabat, Morocco. The workshop will be organized in a hybrid modality by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Regional Office for the Near East and North Africa (FAORNE) in collaboration with the Secretariat of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC), the Near East Plant Protection Organization (NEPPO), and the National Office of Food Safety (ONSSA), Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Morocco.
This regional workshop aims to provide the NENA countries with current information in a range of areas related to the IPPC, to formulate productive comments on draft ISPMs and recommendations submitted for consultation in 2024, to build phytosanitary capacity, and raise awareness on all activities related to the IPPC, and finally to exchange experiences at the regional level. The 2024 IPPC RWs theme focuses on “PLANT HEALTH, SAFE TRADE, AND DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY”
