AI Applications for Climate-Smart Agriculture, Advisory Services and Value Chains
Virtual Event, 03/09/2026
Background
The Near East and North Africa (NENA) region faces increasing climate, water and market pressures that require more productive, resilient and inclusive agrifood systems. Artificial intelligence (AI) emerges as a powerful tool to support climate-smart agriculture, rural advisory services and agrifood value chains through improved forecasting, resource optimization and decision-making.
This webinar is the third session in the Regional AI Dialogue for Agrifood Systems in the NENA Region. Building on previous discussions on data ecosystems, connectivity, digital infrastructure and human capital, it focuses on practical AI applications that are already supporting climate-smart agriculture, advisory services and value chains. Participants will explore how AI is being integrated into solutions for climate and water management, land and ecosystem monitoring, extension services, market intelligence, logistics optimization, inclusive finance and risk management, while drawing practical lessons for scaling responsible AI solutions across the region.
Objectives
The webinar aims to bring together representatives from governments, research institutions, the private sector, agrifood producers, cooperatives and development partners to:
- Showcase operational AI applications supporting climate-smart agriculture, extension services and agrifood value chains.
- Explore how AI technologies are integrated into existing digital solutions and institutional workflows for rural advisory services, cooperatives and agribusinesses.
- Discuss how these solutions address last-mile challenges, including connectivity, language, digital literacy, trust, gender and social inclusion.
- Identify practical lessons, governance approaches, business models and partnerships needed to scale responsible AI applications across climate-smart agriculture, advisory services and value chains in the NENA region.
Expected Outcomes
Participants will gain:
- A shared understanding of operational AI applications that are already delivering value in climate-smart agrifood systems.
- Practical insights into integrating AI into rural advisory services, cooperative platforms, water and land management tools, and market and finance solutions while ensuring accessibility for smallholders.
- Recommendations and examples to inform regional and national programmes seeking to deploy responsible AI solutions in agrifood systems.
Format: Online participation via Zoom with simultaneous interpretation in English and Arabic.
