FAO trains on “Wat’Count” - a serious game on water accounting

Within the framework of the project "Implementing the 2030 Agenda for Water Efficiency/ Productivity and Water Sustainability in the NENA Countries" implemented by FAO and funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), eight experts from FAO and IHE-Delft were trained on a serious game on water accounting. The training was conducted by Lisode – which is specialized in the design and implementation of participatory approaches – for three days in Montpellier.
Participants were trained to implement a serious game, "Wat' Count", designed for water accounting and calibrated to the general context of the Near East and North Africa (NENA) region. The game aims, through learning, simulation and gaming, to contribute to the promotion of participatory planning and management of water resources. Trainees will facilitate the implementation of this game among groups of stakeholders in the water sector in the NENA region in a regional workshop on water accounting hosted by FAO (15-17 May 2022). The training included presentations on group facilitation and the role of serious games in promoting participatory processes.
This training is implemented under the regional project “Implementing the 2030 Agenda for water efficiency/productivity and water sustainability in NENA countries”. This project is funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.
