Ministry of Agriculture and FAO launch distance learning for students in the agricultural technical schools

16/03/2020

Following the Council of Ministers’ decision on March 15, 2020, to declare General Mobilization to control the spread of COVID-19, the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), launched on March 16, distance online learning for all students enrolled in the baccalaureate programs (BTA) at the agricultural technical schools in Lebanon.

Teaching Programs are posted on the MoA website and can be accessed at the following link

The students will be further guided by school teachers through WhatsApp groups. These teaching programs were developed with the support of the Welfare Association for Research and Development (WARD), a partner of the FAO project “Upgrading the Technical Agriculture Education System in Lebanon” funded by the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

It is to note that this project works on enhancing the employability of young Lebanese and displaced Syrians and other refugees in Lebanon. It offers them the opportunity of acquiring the necessary technical skills to access improved career opportunities in agriculture and agribusiness in Lebanon or in Syria upon their return. The project is implemented by FAO in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, UNICEF, ILO, and AVSI (an international NGO) and WARD (a National NGO).
