Better environment
Through this regional priority, FAO seeks to protect, restore, and promote the sustainable use of natural resources and biodiversity in terrestrial and marine ecosystems and combat climate change. In this context, the aim is to strengthen the capacity to act in climate change adaptation and mitigation to advance the transformation of agrifood systems to make them sustainable and climate resilient.
In the area of the Bioeconomy , the circular economy, the use of bioinputs, the efficient use of energy, and the recognition of local knowledge in the use of biodiversity are promoted. Also fundamental is the work developed in sustainable urban food systems, the urban food agenda, the urban-rural continuum and regional networks to position the environmental issue in cities, especially in supply centers and urban markets.
