The Belém 4x Pledge: the contribution of sustainable bioenergy
Virtual Event, 04/12/2025
The webinar aims to enhance understanding of the Belém Commitment for Sustainable Fuels (also known as the Belém 4x Pledge), a multilateral initiative launched at COP30 to quadruple the production and use of sustainable fuels by 2035. The Pledge aims to accelerate the clean energy transition through the adoption of clean energy sources, such as biogases and biofuels, as well as hydrogen and synthetic fuels.
The session will provide insights into the political drivers behind the pledge, and the scientific and technical foundations underpinning it, drawing on expertise from the International Energy Agency. Participants will hear from government, international organizations, and energy experts, and engage in interactive discussions to explore how bioenergy can be effectively integrated into national and global strategies for sustainable energy and agrifood systems.
This webinar is part of the 2025 Global Bioenergy Partnership (GBEP) webinar series, as part of the thematic area ‘Sustainable liquid biofuels’. More information on this theme can be found here.
