Bioethanol for clean cooking: Opportunities for improving the sustainability of local value chains

Bioethanol presents a promising opportunity for Africa, offering a locally sourced, renewable fuel that can boost rural economies and enhance energy security by reducing reliance on fuel imports.

However, its adoption for cooking is not feasible in all contexts. This webinar shares insights from FAO-led workshops in Rwanda and Uganda, highlighting key barriers and best practices. This webinar also includes a case study from Kenya which showcases how cassava-based bioethanol production can support sustainable development.

Hosted by the Global Bioenergy Partnership (GBEP), this webinar is part of the FAO-GBEP project "International dialogues on bioethanol as a clean cooking fuel in selected countries in Africa and Asia", funded by the United States Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service (USDA-FAS).
