The United States Defense Threat Reduction Agency, through its Biological Threat Reduction Program, contributed USD 3 505 221 to strengthen central and regional veterinary services in six targeted governorates in Iraq (Anbar, Al-Muthanna, Basra, Duhok, Ninawa and Wasit) by building veterinary staff’s capacities to detect, diagnose and rapidly report highly pathogenic animal diseases and by providing equipment to veterinary laboratories.
