For two days in the Cairo Water Week 2023, The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) organized the "FAO Track at the CWW 2023" in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation and other development partners.

The FAO Track at CWW aimed to provide a platform to deliberate and present FAO’s various initiatives, projects, and activities related to water planning, management, governance, productivity, and sustainability. The event coincided with FAO World Food Day 2023, which highlights water as a fundamental resource for life on Earth.

A delegation of around twenty fruit and vegetable importers from Central and Eastern Europe visited Morocco in October 2023, with the mission to uncover burgeoning trade opportunities and foster new business prospects with Moroccan agrifood operators.

As part of its efforts in support of the Arab Forum for Rural Advisory Services (AFRAS), FAO facilitated the organization of a roundtable discussion aimed at clarifying a set of issues related to the establishment process of the regional Forum, including, inter alia, type of governance structure, relationship with the Global Forum for Rural Advisory Services (GFRAS) and establishment of country fora.

Cairo, Egypt – In its effort to accelerate the progress of the One Health approach, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has just become the 17th UN agency to join the Regional Health Alliance (RHA). 

To address the challenges of desertification and climate change adaptation in Saudi Arabia, the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) is taking a leading and pivotal role. The importance of afforestation and plantation in mitigating climate change cannot be overstated, hence one of the Action Hub panel discussions at the MENA Climate Week shed light on the significant contributions of NCVC in this area.

This training, delivered within the framework of the Global FMD Control Strategy by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), is hosted on the FAO Virtual Learning Centers (VLC) platform to enhance FMD control capacity in endemic regions and accelerate country progress on the Progressive Control Pathway for FMD (PCP-FMD) by 2027.

Cairo, Egypt – As part of its efforts towards a just transition to more sustainable, resilient and efficient production and consumption patterns and reducing demand on our natural resources, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has published new guidelines for action on food loss and waste (FLW) reduction in the Near East and North Africa (NENA). 

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) have joined hands on a significant partnership aimed at enhancing global food security and nutrition . In a collaborative effort to combat desertification, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the National Center of Vegetation Cover and Combating Desertification (NCVC) embarked on a study visit to the Gansu Desert Control Research Institute in China (GDCRI). This visit comes after an extensive online exchange capacity-building programme focused on land degradation control, forest management, rangeland preservation, and the establishment of national parks. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with Industry Disruptors Game Changers and Berytech, held a regional meeting to take stock of lessons learned out of the Agrination Initiative and map out next steps in creating a scaled up agrifood innovation and entrepreneurship programme in the Near East and North Africa.
