These Guidelines represent a user friendly version of the already published product. This is the first internationally agreed instrument devoted entirely to the small-scale fisheries sector, which is enormously important but has so far often been postponed. The small-scale fisheries sector tends to be firmly rooted in local communities, traditions and values.

Given the spread of different transboundary animal diseases (TADs) such as African Swine fever (ASF), Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) and Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD), it is pertinent that FAO will provide assistance to countries in a way of practical knowledge on how to deal with animal carcasses.

The paper presents a manual to assess the economic impact of recreational fisheries and its application in two Caribbean countries: The Bahamas and Martinique. The manual was developed with the assistance from the Gertner Consulting Group and the WECAFC/OPESCA/ CRFM/ CFMC working group on recreational fisheries.

A technical training workshop on advancing aquaponics was held in Saint John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, 14–18 August 2017. Fourteen international participants were present from five countries (Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis).
