17th International LANDNET Workshop and Second Inter-Regional and Global Policy Solutions Forum for Family Farming
Innovations for Better Governance and Equitable Access to Land

The 17th International LANDNET Workshop is organized jointly with the Second Inter-Regional and Global Policy Solutions Forum for Family Farming, under the overarching theme of land governance, access to land and land reform.
The event will have a global reach with the expected participation of 150 experts from more than 40 countries to discuss and facilitate the exchange of experiences and good practices between Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as Europe and Central Asia regions on inclusive land policies and effective tenure governance, while advancing the priorities of the United Nations Decade of Family Farming (2019–2028).
The interregional dialogue is co-funded by the Government of Brazil and organized as part of the FAO Regional Technical Platform for Family Farming. The workshop is also supported by the FAO Regional Technical Platform on Green Agriculture.
The technical themes of the workshop will be:
- Land access and generational renewal in the context of family farming
- Land governance and land reform in Europe and Central Asia
- Land governance and land reform in Latin America and the Caribbean
- Rural women’s access to land and gender-sensitive tenure policies
- Land reforms in Latin America and the Caribbean as well as in Europe and Central Asia
- Experiences with multi-purpose land consolidation in Europe
- Experiences with land consolidation and land banking outside of Europe
- Developing a fully operational legal framework for land consolidation
- Strengthening the resilience of land governance and land administration systems for agriculture in times of crisis
The workshop will take place over three days with the main language being English, and interpretation available to Portuguese and Russian languages.

The network comprises more than 300 experts from more than 40 countries, representing academia, governments, civil society and private sector from Europe and Central Asia and beyond. Since 2002, 23 annual regional workshops have been organized on various land tenure related topics such as land consolidation, land banking, state land management, land abandonment and land market development.
