Global Forum for Food and Agriculture - Expert panel discussion (19/01/2018)

In 2018 the Berlin-based Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) will be about “Shaping the Future of Livestock – sustainably, responsibly, efficiently”

From 10.00-12.00 hours FAO is organizing an expert panel discussion entitled “Antimicrobial resistance in Europe and beyond", jointly with the German NGO, Bread for the World.

Antimicrobial resistance, or AMR for short, is arguably the most important global health issue concerning not only human health but food security, agriculture, livestock, aquaculture, and the environment as well. It already has a negative impact on food safety, consumer confidence, and the sustainability of the agriculture sector.

The panel will bring together animal health and livestock experts from across the globe to discuss burning question related to antimicrobial resistance, such as governance, good practices for livestock production and the prudent use of antimicrobials, and many more.
