Global Forum for Food and Agriculture / Expert panel discussion
Hybrid Event, 19/01/2017
In 2017, the overarching topic of the Berlin-based Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) is: "Agriculture and Water – Key to Feeding the World”
From 15.30-17.30 hours FAO is organizing an expert panel discussion entitled “How can wastewater contribute to food security" with experts from the German Leibniz Research Alliance, World Bank, UNESCO International Hydrological Programme and some more.
Given the increasing competition over water usage, how can it be ensured that agriculture has access to water, and hence can provide the global population with food? What part can agriculture, as the largest user of water, play worldwide in the sustainable stewardship of water as a valuable resource? The panel aims to have a vivid discussion on these issues and beyond.
At the same time another panel discussion “Blue Planet Berlin Water Dialogues: sustainable solutions for water and food production”, will run with the involvement of FAO’s water management expert Giovanni Munoz.
