Joint review of Kosovo’s forest sector
Hybrid Event, 24/06/2021 - 25/06/2021
The meeting will bring together various partners to discuss and analyze the current state of forest and the forestry sector in Kosovo*, as well as to identify challenges and opportunities in realizing the economic, social, and environmental potential of forests in Kosovo. The two-day event is part of the FAO project “Support to strengthening sustainable and multipurpose forest management to improve rural livelihoods and address climate change in Kosovo,” funded by Sweden.
The joint review of Kosovo’s forest sector is an ongoing process that incorporates a dialogue on assessing the implementation of the project and the Forestry Development Strategy 2010–2020, and will be contributing to the drafting of a new policy and strategy on forestry covering the period from 2021 to 2030.
The meeting will be followed by a field visit to get hands-on experience on the value of forests, forest products, functions, and services, and to meet forest users. The conclusions of the joint review will also contribute to identify future development projects and create opportunities for additional investments in the forestry sector.
