Prevention and Control of Non-contagious Disease (NCDs), Elimination of Artificial Trans Fats, Food Safety and Risk Management for Sustainable Development

The symposium on “Prevention and Control of Non-contagious Disease (NCDs), Elimination of Artificial Trans Fats, Food Safety and Risk Management for Sustainable Development” on the occasion of World Food Day 2019, under the theme “Our Actions are Our Future. Healthy Diets for a #ZeroHunger World” will be organized by FAO and World Health Organization (WHO) on 4-5 October 2019 in Elazığ.
This symposium, co-organized by Gazi University, Fırat University, and the Health Sciences University, will bring together important actors of the sector both as speakers and participants. High level representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, professors from medical faculties, specialized academicians, as well as experts from the private sector and NGOs will explain the importance of healthy diets plus, discuss the correlation between nutrition and health.
The program of the two-day panel will focus to five main topics on;
• Prevention and treatment of NCDs and promotion of well-being
• Food systems and how they affect diet and nutrition
• Role of the media and industry in the prevention and control of NCDs, elimination of artificial trans fats, food safety and risk management for sustainable development
• Actions to improve food environment and dietary risk factors contributing to deaths and diseases
• Actions to reduce burden of NCDs at all stages of life.
