Hybrid Event, 16/11/2021 - 17/11/2021
11:00 – 13:00 (CET)
FAO supports member countries in mainstreaming biodiversity conservation and sustainable use in the agriculture sector. Following the first global multi-stakeholder dialogue, and in line with its mandate to coordinate a collective effort, FAO convenes the first regional dialogue on biodiversity mainstreaming for Europe and Central Asia.
The objective of the event is to discuss challenges, exchange views and opportunities for mainstreaming biodiversity, promoting inclusive, sustainable, and resilient agrifood systems for improved food security and nutrition in Europe and Central Asia.
The regional dialogue will explore the potential for collaborative actions across different sectors and countries, as well as the role of FAO. Moreover, it will engage stakeholders in the consultations on a regional action plan for mainstreaming biodiversity across agricultural sectors in Eastern European and Central Asian countries.
On 16 November, a political discussion will highlight international instruments and political commitments on mainstreaming biodiversity across agricultural sectors in the region. On 17 November, the focus will be on technical aspects and consultations on the next steps in strengthening the regional process and sharing knowledge among countries and partners.
