Regional training on brucellosis laboratory diagnosis for Central Asian countries

Organizers: FAO, through its regional office for Europe and Central Asia is organizing a regional training on brucellosis laboratory diagnosis. Brucellosis was identified by all countries within the Central Asia Animal Health Network (CAAHN) as the main priority disease. Brucellosis laboratory diagnosis is one of the pillars for the control of the disease. This first laboratory training will focus on the theoretical and hands-on diagnosis of brucellosis by applying different methods recommended by international regulations.

Objectives:
- Hands-on training on how to perform bacteriology, serology tests (RBT, CFT, SAT) and molecular (PCR) tests;
- Share and update information on laboratory diagnostic techniques and algorithms;
- Biosafety and Biosecurity issues;
- Quality control of brucellosis vaccines;
- Quality Assurance implementation;
- Develop regional technical collaborations and catalyze experience sharing;
- Develop opportunities to participate in diagnostic proficiency tests;
- Assess the improvement of regional technical skills and continuous training of technical staff
Participants:
Two laboratory diagnosticians per country (Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan)
