Regional Project “Strengthening Capacities ff The National Phytosanitary Control Services in 4 Eastern European Countries” TCP/RER/3503,  continues its work towards the development of appropriate technical cooperation among specialists of phytosanitary control services, plant protection researchers, extension specialists, public and private stakeholders, NGOs and farmers. Hence, next regional project will take place in the capital of Belarus for strengthening the implementation framework for establishment of pest free areas and determination of pest status in an area. Participants will discuss requirements for the establishment and use of pest free areas as a risk management option or to support the scientific justification for phytosanitary measures taken by an importing country. In addition, invited resource persons will present best practices on the content of a pest record, and the use of pest records and other information in the determination of pest status in an area. Finally, status of Diabrotica Virgifera and control and prevention of pest as a major challenge for the development of sector will be considered in details.
