Sustainable Food Systems and Healthy Nutrition Patterns
Hybrid Event, 03/09/2020
Time: 10:00-12:00 (CEST)
This session of the joint ESCAP-FAO Multi-Stakeholder Forum on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals provides a platform to discuss the state of food systems in selected countries with the aim of understanding the underlying challenges and current disruptions to these systems, including disruptions caused by COVID-19, and their distinct impacts on different segments of society, such as rural and urban populations, women and men.
The session will also discuss opportunities to revise and create common frameworks for solutions and strategies toward enhancing sustainability of food systems and strengthening health and nutrition outcomes using a multi-stakeholder approach. Its main discussion points and recommendations will feed into regional and global follow-up and review processes for the 2030 Agenda, such as the 2021 sessions of the Asia Pacific Forum for Sustainable Development and the and the High-level Political Forum, as well as into the UN Food Systems Summit 2021.
Countries in focus are Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The Forum will be held in English and Russian (with simultaneous translation).
