Annual Meeting of the Forest Invasive Species Network for Europe and Central Asia (REUFIS) 2026

In 2026, the Annual Meeting of the Forest Invasive Species Network for Europe and Central Asia (REUFIS) will be held on 9 to 11 June in Manas, Kyrgyzstan, on the sidelines of the International Conference on "Walnut-fruit forests of Kyrgyzstan: World natural heritage, a global treasure for biodiversity, climate, and sustainable development". The two events are aimed at creating a unified international platform for high-level policy dialogue and technical cooperation on forest health and invasive species management.
Launched in 2017 by FAO, REUFIS offers a strategic platform to bring together forest and urban managers, policymakers, scientists, and civil society to share experiences and develop actionable strategies.
Annual network meeting of the REUFIS focal points will include:
- Updates from focal points on ongoing and emerging issues;
- Summaries on previous events, including the EPPO Agrilus conference (April 2026, Vienna, Austria);
- Presentations of the pocket guide to monitor important bark and wood-boring forest insects in Europe and Central Asia;
- Update from Türkiye regarding the preparation of a risk assessment on Robinia pseudoacacia, focusing on its advantages, disadvantages, uses, and potential issues;
- REUFIS workplan for 2026/27.
Further on, participant will discuss the state of nut-fruit forests and their protection from pests and diseases, including also country experiences from across Europe and Central Asia on forest health issues of nut trees, as well as emerging forest health issues in Central Asia.
