Veterinary experts of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will train local dairy farmers in Georgia on biosecurity.

Biosecurity is defined by FAO as a strategic and integrated approach that encompasses the policy and regulatory frameworks (including instruments and activities) for analysing and managing relevant risks to human, animal and plant life and health, and associated risks to the environment. The biosecurity trainers developed their skills and technical knowledge through a regional workshop in Lleida, Spain, along with an online course, both of which were facilitated by FAO.

The training sessions will be held in Farmer Field Schools in Georgia, established by FAO under the European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD), which is funded by the European Union and Sweden.
