Celebrating International Youth Day in 2025
12/08/2025
To mark this year’s International Youth Day, celebrated annually on 12 August, youth leaders from across Europe and Central Asia will come together for an engaging regional webinar titled “Stronger Together – Sharing Good Practices Across European Youth Chapters”.
Organized as part of the global celebrations led by the World Food Forum (WFF) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the event is a joint initiative of the WFF Italy Chapter and WFF Local Youth Action. It will highlight the transformative role of youth in shaping national agrifood systems and advancing sustainable development.
The session will centre successful youth-led initiatives, foster cross-country collaboration, and celebrate the launch and revitalization of national chapters. It aims to empower young people to actively engage in food systems governance by providing a platform for dialogue, learning and action.
The webinar will explore the following areas:
- Youth participation in decision-making: how young people can influence food system policy and governance (looking at examples from Spain).
- Food justice and equity: how to ensure fair access to healthy, sustainable food across regions and communities (examples from Italy).
- Local food systems and rural development: the role that youth play in revitalizing rural areas and promoting local food networks (examples from Ireland).
Organizers welcome to the discussion national youth chapter representatives from the region; national and European youth leaders and activists; representatives of European Union institutions, non-governmental organizations and civil society; policymakers; and partners supporting youth engagement. This event offers a valuable platform for exchanging knowledge, strengthening regional networks and showcasing the impacts of youth-led activities.
Participation in the event is possible via Zoom in English.
