Consultative workshop on Mountain Vulnerability with the presentation of the results of the project "Sustainable Management of Natural Resources in Mountain Areas" and discussion on next steps
Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), 25/05/2026
The workshop will build on the findings of the recent field mission to At-Bashy district of Naryn region, Kyrgyzstan which took place from 26 to 27 April 2026 and the meeting in Bishkek on 29 April 2026 that focus on presenting the survey on the assessment of impact of drought and land degradation and developing an evidence-based plan to introduce water-saving technologies suited to mountainous conditions. The workshop will provide an opportunity to share field-based insights on environmental, social, and livelihoods-related vulnerabilities in mountain communities, drawing on local observations, stakeholder consultations, and assessment results.
Participants, stakeholders and representatives of local communities will reflect on practical challenges observed on the ground, discuss community-level impacts and adaptive practices, and consider next steps for translating assessment results into targeted actions. The workshop will also facilitate discussion on how the approaches and methodologies piloted in At-Bashy can be refined, adapted, and applied in other mountain areas, supporting future programming and scaling-up efforts.
