EIFAAC International Symposium and 32nd Session

The Thirty-Second Session of the European Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture Advisory Commission (EIFAAC) and a related International Symposium, hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Croatia and the University of Zagreb Faculty of Agriculture, will be held in Pula, Croatia from 7 to 11 October 2024. The Symposium will focus on building a sustainable future for inland fisheries and aquaculture in a time of multiple stressors.
The European Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture Advisory Commission promotes the long-term sustainable development, utilization, conservation, restoration and responsible management of European inland fisheries and aquaculture, consistent with the objectives and principles of the FAO Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries and other relevant international instruments, and supports sustainable economic, social, and recreational activities towards these goals through:
- providing advice, information and coordination;
- encouraging enhanced stakeholder participation and communication; and
- the delivery of effective research.
The International Symposium aims to facilitate interaction between European scientists and policymakers and to share inland fisheries and freshwater aquaculture research within the European region. The findings and recommendations of the Symposium are reported directly to the 32nd EIFAAC Session.
Along with the symposium, the following workshops and panel discussions will be held:
- Workshop on management advice for reducing the impact of cormorant predation on fish and fisheries
- Freshwater invasives networking for strategy (FINS III) Workshop
- Panel discussions on the „Future of European Freshwater Aquaculture“
