Fifth Annual Consultation Meeting: Regional Laboratory Network on Antimicrobial Resistance in food and agriculture

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is among the main global health threats of our time, putting the economy, livelihoods, and the food and agriculture sectors under pressure.
Following the first consultation meeting in December 2022 in Moscow, the Regional Laboratory Network on Antimicrobial Resistance in food and agriculture in Eastern Europe, Transcaucasia and Central Asia (EECCA) countries was established. The network brings together national institutions and laboratories to provide scientific and technical advice, establish regional links, and take coordinated joint actions to strengthen and develop laboratory capacity for the surveillance of AMR in food and agriculture in a number of EECCA countries, and use AMR data to carry out further actions to reduce its spread in the region.
In 2026, the Fifth Annual Consultation Meeting of the Regional Laboratory Network on AMR in food and agriculture in EECCA countries will be dedicated to exchanging updated information on initiatives and results of AMR laboratory studies in the food and agriculture sectors in the region; discussing the network’s activities since the last meeting in September 2025; and coordinating and planning the future activities of the network as part of the 2027–2028 Roadmap.
The meeting supported by FAO and hosted in Ulaanbaatar by the State Central Veterinary Laboratory of General Authority for Veterinary services under Mongolia’s Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, as the network coordinator from Mongolia.
