Food safety in Georgian hazelnut production training

Zugdidi (Georgia), Telavi (Georgia), 17/03/2025 - 23/03/2025

In Georgia, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will organize training sessions on food safety in the production and processing of hazelnuts – one of the most exported agricultural goods of the country. Combining theoretical and practical components, the educational meetings will be held in the four key regions of hazelnut production Kakheti, Samegrelo, Imereti, and Guria.

The training series will be held to support Georgian farmers in enhancing their capacities for safer production of hazelnuts, as well as correct processing, drying, and storage practices. Hence the activity is to support them also in achieving improved competitiveness on an international level, while ensuring that higher-quality hazelnuts are accessible to local consumers.

The training series will be implemented by FAO under the fourth phase of the European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD IV), which is funded by the European Union (EU) and Sweden.
