GEF-funded project “Integrated Natural Resources Management in Degraded Landscapes in the Forest-Steppe Zone of Ukraine” closes

One project, three components, four languages, six years, 26 stakeholders, more than 40 locations, thousands of hours of discussions, colossal paper work ― that is all about integrated natural resources management in degraded landscapes in the forest-steppe zone of Ukraine.

The project was a joint initiative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Global Environment Facility (GEF), the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine. The aim of the project was to promote restoration of degraded landscapes in the forest-steppe and steppe zones of Ukraine through upscaling of integrated natural resources management practices. 

Invited speakers will present the main achievements of the project, review its challenges, and describe further plans and opportunities.

The conference will cover the following topics:

• Land degradation neutrality (LDN) monitoring system;
• Efficient use of shelterbelts;
• Research and promotion of new conservation agriculture technologies;
• Sharing conservation agriculture practices.
• Implementation of the project during the war.

Languages: Ukrainian and English; simultaneous interpretation will be available.

What will be the format of the conference?

The event will be held in hybrid format on 27 June 2023 (09:30 − 15:00 Kyiv time) from Kyiv in the form of panel discussions.

The conference is organized for project stakeholders, actual and potential partners of the current and future projects, experts, and other interested parties.
