International Conference and Parallel FAO Regional Events: Preservation and development of a unique relic nut-fruit forest of Arslanbob
Manas (Kyrgyzstan), 09/06/2026 - 11/06/2026
The International Scientific and Practical Conference “Preservation and Development of the Unique Relict Nut-Fruit Forest of Arslanbob” and accompanying FAO regional events aim to promote the sustainable management and conservation of one of Central Asia’s most valuable forest ecosystems.
The conference will bring together policymakers, researchers, and practitioners to discuss strategies for preserving the unique relic walnut-fruit forests of Arslanbob, enhancing their ecological resilience, and supporting sustainable livelihoods.
In parallel, FAO will organize two regional technical events: a meeting of the FAO Forest Invasive Species Network for Europe and Central Asia (REUFIS) and a regional workshop on forest diseases and pests, with a particular focus on walnut ecosystems. These events will provide a platform for exchanging regional knowledge, sharing best practices, and strengthening cooperation on forest health monitoring, pest and disease management, and biodiversity conservation.
