Ninth Session of the Central Asian and Caucasus Regional Fisheries and Aquaculture Commission (CACFish)

The Central Asian and Caucasus Regional Fisheries and Aquaculture Commission (CACFish) will convene its Ninth Session in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on 25–26 November 2025, bringing together national delegates and regional experts to advance cooperation in sustainable fisheries and aquaculture. The session will also include participants from observer states.
The Commission will review key decisions and recommendations from respective FAO Regional Conferences, Committees, and Fisheries Bodies. Delegates will examine the Secretariat’s report on administrative, operational, and financial matters, and discuss the recommendations and activities of the Technical Advisory Committee. In addition, the Commission will determine the budget and member contributions for 2025–2026, and review its revised Rules of Procedure, and formulate the work programme for the 2025–2027 intersessional period.
CACFish, established under the framework of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), serves as a key regional mechanism for governance, conservation and sustainable development of fisheries and aquaculture resources. Its mandate includes fostering responsible resource management, enhancing scientific and technical cooperation, and supporting policy development to improve aquafood security, blue transformation and rural livelihoods. Through its work programme activities and technical platforms, CACFish facilitates regional dialogue, harmonizes approaches, and strengthens institutional capacities across its competence area that includes Central Asia and the Caucasus.
