Regional Conference on Prevention of Food Waste

The Government of Hungary, in collaboration with FAO, will organize the regional Conference on Prevention of Food Waste on 1 October 2024. 

The event will bring together European Union (EU) Member States and non-EU countries from Europe and Central Asia to encourage the harmonization of country efforts for a cohesive intra-regional approach to reducing food waste. 

By sharing successful cases, the conference will enhance national capacity to address food waste through comprehensive national strategies, policy integration, and targeted consumer interventions. 

The event will also foster collaboration and partnerships essential for building sustainable food systems and achieving environmental goals.

    o Ministerial Panel I: Key elements and achievements of national food waste prevention programmes in Europe and Central Asia
    o Ministerial Panel II: Strengthening stakeholder collaboration through multistakeholder platforms, collaborative action plans, and voluntary agreements
