Regional Laboratory Network meeting on antimicrobial resistance in food and agriculture
Moscow (Russia), 20/11/2024 - 21/11/2024
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the most serious public health and development threats in the twenty-first century. In the food and agriculture sectors, AMR represents a threat to livelihoods and economies.
The “Regional Laboratory Network on Antimicrobial Resistance in food and agriculture in Eastern Europe, Transcaucasia and Central Asia countries” was established following the in-person consultation meeting held in Moscow on 5–6 December 2022 with participants from relevant AMR laboratories in Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, and Tajikistan, with support from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
In 2024, the Annual Meeting of the Regional Laboratory Network on AMR will aim to share updated information on AMR laboratory initiatives and results in the food and agriculture sectors in the region; discuss the work of the Network conducted since the last meeting in November 2023; and agree and plan future network work in support of the declaration and outcomes of the United Nations General Assembly High Level Meeting in September 2024.
The meeting will be organized by FAO and the Federal Budgetary Institution of Science "Central Research Institute of Epidemiology" of the Federal Service for Surveillance in the Field of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor), which is one of the FAO AMR Reference Centres in food and agriculture.
