Regional Technical Workshop on development of FSBDGs for healthy diets in Central Asia
Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), 20/05/2026 - 22/05/2026
The Regional technical workshop on the development of food systems-based dietary guidelines (FSBDGs) for healthy diets in Central Asia will bring together technical experts, policymakers, and national stakeholders to review progress and strengthen regional collaboration on nutrition and food systems. The workshop will present the preliminary results of applying the FAO methodology for FSBDG development in three Central Asian countries (Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan), highlighting key findings, methodological insights, and country-specific experiences.
Participants will review achievements and lessons learned in the ongoing FSBDGs development processes, exchange best practices, and discuss common challenges encountered across countries. The workshop will also provide a platform to explore opportunities for enhanced regional cooperation, particularly in the areas of nutrition policy alignment, joint research, and the development and harmonization of food composition data to support evidence-based dietary guidance. The event aims to foster knowledge sharing, strengthen technical capacities, and promote a coordinated regional approach to advancing healthy diets through sustainable food systems.
