Symposium on “Planting Green Spaces in the Mountainous Regions of Kyrgyzstan” – as part of the “Zhashil Muras” campaign
Jalal-Abad Region (Kyrgyzstan), 02/04/2026
The symposium is part of the national environmental initiative “Zhashil Muras” (“Green Heritage”), aimed at expanding green spaces, restoring landscapes, and promoting climate‑resilient ecosystems across Kyrgyzstan. This event focuses specifically on afforestation and green‑space development in mountainous regions, where environmental fragility, soil erosion, and climate vulnerability are particularly pronounced.
FAO will participate by delivering a presentation on the project’s current activities related to sustainable land management, ecosystem restoration, and community involvement in environmental initiatives. In addition to the symposium, FAO will organize a planting campaign in Suzak district of Jalal-Abad region, Kyrgyzstan, engaging local partners and community members in practical tree‑planting activities to support the expansion of green spaces in the region.
