Training workshop: Mainstreaming biodiversity in forest management

FAO, in close collaboration with the Turkish non-governmental organization Doğa Koruma Merkezi, is inviting representatives of government institutions responsible for agriculture or environment, academia, relevant NGOs from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Montenegro, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan to Trabzon, Türkiye to exchange experiences and learn practical approaches on mainstreaming biodiversity in forest management.
Objectives of the workshop:
- Introducing and launching the Guidelines on mainstreaming forest biodiversity into national strategies and action plans.
- Build knowledge of the general content of the guidelines.
- Strengthen understanding on the specific steps of implementing the guidelines.
- Exchange of knowledge, experiences, and lessons learned (including gaps and challenges) on biodiversity mainstreaming.
The training programme will comprise of expert presentations, discussions, group work, and interactive activities. Country representatives will share their experience and good practices related to mainstreaming forest biodiversity into national strategies and action plans. A field visit will offer participants the chance to gather hands-on experience of a protected forest area in Trabzon, where training topics will be discussed.
