Workshop: EU for sustainable plant protection in Serbia
Belgrade (Serbia), 20/11/2025
The Republic of Serbia is progressing towards European Union accession, working to align its agricultural and environmental policies with the European Green Deal and the Farm to Fork and Biodiversity Strategies. Serbia’s legislative framework provides the foundation for this transition; however, additional efforts are needed to strengthen institutional and operational capacities, improve monitoring and awareness, and promote sustainable pesticide use in line with EU standards.
To support these efforts, FAO, with funding from the European Union, launched the project “EU for sustainable plant protection in Serbia”. The project aims to strengthen the implementation of national legislation on pesticide management, enhance national systems for pesticide registration and monitoring, build professional capacities at different levels, and improve public awareness of pesticide risks and environmentally sound alternatives.
The inception workshop aims to present the FAO–EU project “EU for sustainable plant protection in Serbia”, discuss the project governance, and engage national institutions and partners in validating the project’s work plan and coordination framework setting the foundation for the project implementation process.
