Workshop: Implementation of methodology for assessment of damages and losses in the Kyrgyz agricultural sector using the e-DLA tool
(Kyrgyzstan), 29/07/2024 - 03/08/2024
The aim of the workshop is to present a methodology for assessing agricultural damages and losses in Kyrgyzstan.
FAO is helping national governments in institutionalizing its methodology to assess direct economic losses attributed to disasters in agriculture (for agriculture it is intended crops, livestock, fisheries, forestry and aquaculture) – within the sector as well as in the national damage and loss information systems to ensure systematic and consistent data collection.
The methodology has been incorporated in the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as reporting mechanisms on the progress towards the global targets on resilience, particularly on the Sendai Framework indicator C2 and SDG Indicator 1.5.2 (Direct agricultural loss attributed to disasters).
Since 2019, FAO has been active in promoting the adoption of this methodology among countries in the Central Asia region.
FAO developed a demo version of a web-based software to support field collection analysis and reporting of data on damage and loss from disasters in agriculture (e-DLA tool). The e-DLA tool is a highly innovative and customizable integrated digital solution that allows allocation of roles in accordance with the institutional setups and local territorial organization.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic has asked FAO to assist in customizing testing and piloting the software in Kyrgyzstan.
During the training, representatives from the Ministry and other government agencies will be trained in the use of the e-DLA tool at regional and national levels.
